Darkstar Skateboards was started in El Segundo, California by two brothers: Chet and Matt Thomas in 1997. The name came from a song by Grateful Dead. Darkstar was a originally a skateshop that soon became the Darkstar Wheels brand. Once they started creating boards, they rebranded themselves as Darkstar Skateboards.
