World Industries was founded in 1988 by professional skateboarders Steve Rocco and Rodney Mullen, and Mike Vallely. World Industries was the first skater-owned company. Star names who have ridden for World Industries over the years include Mike Vallely, Jason Lee, Mark Gonzales and Rick Howard. The first World Industries video was 1989’s Rubbish Heap, directed by Spike Jonze. In 1996 World Industries came out with a few mascots: Devilman, Flameboy and Wet Willy.
